Almost everyone in America has heard of the iconic James Bond movie series. The book character which was created in 1953 by Ian Fleming has since went on to be featured in well over a dozen movies, many video games, and even more books. Starting in 1962 with Dr. No, this wildly successful film series is still being produced today, with the latest movie Skyfall which hit the big screen in 2012. No matter how you slice it, this series is one of the most successful in movie history. It is nearly both the highest earning, as well as longest running box office hit ever.

Still maintaining popularity after over five decades, this British spy movie will surely last many more decades to come. Unlike many other film series, it’s not important to watch the James Bond movies in order. They do not follow a particular chronological timeline, and each movie has its own separate plot line. Each movie has its own separate characters for the most part, and Bond is really the only one which remains consistent.

If you’re new to the series, I would actually suggest watching them out of order, with the newer movies more preferable to the older ones. Because this series is so old, it has went through many changes over the years. Over the two dozen movies, there have been 6 separate people who have played Bond with the latest being Daniel Craig. One thing many people enjoy about this series is the number of different producers it has had. Since the beginning there have been seven producers, giving it a fresh angle every once in a while so the series doesn’t stagnate.

This is more than nearly every other film ever made. It’s also holds second in longest running film series, only bested by Carry On which had its last movie in 1992. However, it won’t be long until it tops that record, and probably the former record as well. James Bond is not just for movies, there are also a lot of video games as well. Starting in 1983 with James Bond 007, there have since been dozens of games based on this action adventure series. The latest one released in 2012 was entitled 007 Legends.
